What does getting married in a dream actually mean?

Dreams can be crazy things, but do they actually mean anything? Ascribing meaning to dreams goes as far back as 325BC when Aristotle wrote about them, rather than just to modern times and the introduction of psychoanalysis.

Of course, everyone knows that the content of our dreams can reveal the subjects that are bugging us, and @BrideCotswold acknowledged the fact that when you’re on the countdown to the Big Day, it’s normal to dream about your wedding: ‘Six brides and brides-to-be share their wedding dreams (and nightmares) in the run up to their big day’. But what does it mean to dream about getting married, particularly if you aren’t even engaged?

Dreaming about tying the knot can simply be an expression of your desire to get wed. Such dreams might ‘reflect your desires for a happy family life … or can refer to some changes in your life and the beginning of a new life cycle’.

Alternatively, dreaming about getting married when you aren’t engaged or are single can ‘reflect our anxieties about recent life changes, our excitement about the future, or increased levels of self-acceptance’ according to @bustle. They could be a result of going through an important developmental phase in your life.

If you’re getting married soon then your wedding dreams might well reveal that you are ready to move on to this next big adventure, as ‘To dream of a marriage signifies commitment, harmony or transitions’.

Getting married is, of course, an enormous life-changing event. It’s understandable that any anxious thoughts you might be having about committing to one person for the rest of your life are entering into your subconscious and are being reflected in your dreams.

Regardless of whether you’ll soon be getting married or if that day seems like a long way off, having the wedding of your dreams is important for the couple involved. Even if you’re on a  tight budget, rest assured that you don’t have to spend a fortune to make that happen.

The best way to ensure you achieve the wedding of your dreams is to plan far enough in advance to be able to pick and choose venues, bands and so on and be able to negotiate with them on the price, rather than being left with little choice other than to pay top dollar because you’re booking everything last minute.

Whether your wedding dreams are soon to become a reality or not, when the day finally arrives the main thing is to relax, enjoy, and treasure every moment with the love of your life.
