Our Heritage in Weddings
Founded by Harry Bramer in 1988, we’re the UK’s longest-established group of wedding venues. Here’s a timeline of our story.
1988
The start of something new
Harry bought a run-down Tudor mansion, Leez Priory. His vision was to restore it to its former beauty and turn it into one of the UK’s first dedicated wedding venues.
1995
A UK first
Now completely transformed from its derelict state, Leez Priory becomes one of the first country houses in the country to be licensed to hold civil ceremonies.
1998
Our second venue
With the purchase of romantic Clearwell Castle, Country House Weddings becomes the UK’s first exclusive-use wedding venue group.
2002
Coastal bliss
This stunning stately home and estate of St Audries Park is added to the CHW Collection.
2004
Royal Palace
A stunning former royal palace, Gosfield Hall, becomes the most recent addition to the CHW portfolio.
2019
A new stately Holme
Beautiful Holmewood Hall is bought and added to our luxurious portfolio.
2020
Warwickshire weddings
We launched this lovely venue in 2020, starting out with small, socially distant weddings and gradually opening it out into the large and luxurious location it is today.

We’ve built up our collection of exquisite country houses over the last thirty years. Each one is unique; we’ve renovated them to the highest standards, creating beautiful spaces for ceremonies, celebrations and overnight stays. We’ve also chosen them for their wonderful locations, set in the lovely English countryside.
St Audries Park
A Quintessential Country Estate
This 19th-century coastal manor house & orangery makes for the perfect destination venue, set in its own deer park among the beautiful Quantock Hills.
Clearwell Castle
A Fairytale Castle in Gloucestershire.
Complete with grand reception rooms & 75ft aisle, this fortified Manor House is one of the most romantic wedding venues in England.
Leez Priory
A magical Tudor Manor & Barn
This stunningly historic venue has a wealth of options for your ceremony & reception, including the original Great Tower and the rustic Coach House Barn.
Gosfield Hall
A grand Stately Home fit for Royalty
This graceful Georgian manor was once a Royal Palace. Choose from a series of grand and ornately decorated ceremony & reception spaces, including the Marquis of Buckingham’s former ballroom.
Holmewood Hall
A delightful Tudor-style Country Manor
Set in lush, green gardens, Holmewood Hall is an idyllic location. Couples can tie the knot in the opulent Gold Room or have a charming al fresco ceremony in the traditional Bandstand.
Bourton Hall
A striking Italianate Manor House & Chapel
Italianate architecture and lovely country views combine to create a memorable wedding venue. Couples can choose to marry in a former Catholic Chapel, a truly special setting.

Georgia & Jack 25th February, 2025 at Leez PrioryLeez Priory were so supportive throughout the wedding planning and our wedding planner, Sophie, on the day knew when she needed to be strict with guests or suppliers, which was needed! Sophie was always on hand throughout the day and was always by my side when I needed to ask a question.
If I could do it all over again, we would 100% go back to Leez Priory, and we can’t wait to go back and visit one day soon.
I couldn’t recommend the venue enough and if you’re thinking about booking a viewing, do it! You won’t regret it.

Any requests we had were sorted and we knew that someone was always a phone call or email away. We were supported throughout the experience which made it more effortless for us as a couple planning the biggest day of our lives. We were made to feel that no question was a stupid question even if we thought it might be.
Overall, the Clearwell Castle staff are amazing, from the wedding managers to the bar staff and cleaners! Thank you so much for making our day the most special it could be. Our guests are still talking about it now all these months on.

We had viewed over 10 other venues, and we chose Gosfield Hall and so grateful we did. The staff were so honest, helpful, calm, encouraging and genuinely interested in us and our special day. Plus, there is so much included in terms of decor (flowers throughout) stunning grounds which you do not have to spend loads of extra money on to make the place look pretty.
Overall, food was fantastic, great service, well-kept grounds, amazing staff, and everything in between.
Everything ran smoothly and perfectly
Melis & Adam 12th May, 2024 at Bourton HallDonna, our Personal Wedding Manager helped us have the most incredible day of our lives. Everything ran smoothly and perfectly, there was nothing to fault. We did not even need to set anything up ourselves on the actual morning of the wedding. Donna was so good at keeping us updated and was always at the end of the phone if I needed to speak to her, it just made the process stress free.
We will definitely be coming back to celebrate our first anniversary at a dinner date event. We would like to thank everyone at Bourton Hall.
