5 places to find inspiration for your wedding

Your wedding should be a celebration of everything that’s unique about you and your partner. It’s a time to honour your relationship journey so far as well as mark the beginning of a brand new chapter.

With so many options to choose from and a long list of wedding tasks to tick off your to-do list, creating your perfect wedding isn’t easy.

You’re certain to have a vision in mind for your big day but channelling all your ideas in the right direction and filling in the gaps can all be done courtesy of some carefully curated mood boards and scrapbooks.

To get your wedding planning juices flowing, we’re here to share the top five places to find the inspiration you need to turn your big day dreams into a reality.

Blogs

You don’t have to head down to your local newsagents and spend a fortune on glossy magazines to find the latest wedding information and inspiration.

A cheaper and better alternative is to browse the net and read wedding blogs. The best blogs feature weddings of all types and themes – from vintage and traditional weddings to boho weddings and other eclectic styles. Discover the best wedding blogs of 2019 here.

Real weddings

Whether viewing them on your favourite wedding blog or experiencing them in person at a friend or family member’s wedding celebration, real weddings offer inspiration aplenty.

Weddings from past and present provide a lot of food for thought so dig out old family albums and home videos. Your granny’s wedding photos could offer an untapped source of inspiration as well as give you the chance to give a nostalgic nod to some long standing family traditions. The net is full of real wedding inspiration too. Wedding venue websites, including ours, provide lots of food for thought for instance. They’re a great place to start as you can see potential venues in action as well as get venue specific ideas.

Films and TV shows

Spend your spare time tuning into the big and small screen to gain inspiration for your own wedding. Many films and TV shows feature weddings, from the grand and elaborate unions shown on programmes like Downton Abbey to the vintage inspired wedding ensembles portrayed on films like The Great Gatsby.  Check out these wedding movies, get out the popcorn and your wedding planning notebook start feeling inspired!

Pinterest

Make sure your wedding looks as pretty as a picture by using a bit of ‘pinspiration’ to plan your special day. Pinterest is a never-ending source of stunning images. You’ll find the inspiration you need to plan every part of your wedding day from your wedding décor and attire to smaller items like save the dates, invitations, and seating plans.

You can use the images you find to create your own mood boards, which can be shared with your suppliers as Weddings Ideas explains:

“Let’s say you’ve set up a Pinterest moodboard called ‘Wedding Flowers’, on which you’ve put together images of all the wedding blooms you like, styles of bouquet and thoughts for your wedding tables. To show your florist what you’re thinking, you could share the board with him or her so they can keep up to date with your imaginings. You can also invite them to pin to your board themselves, so they can add images of things they think you’d like.”

Wedding planners

If you’re working with a wedding planner or coordinator in the run up to your wedding, don’t be afraid to utilise their knowledge and experience.

Your wedding planner or coordinator will have the best sense of what will work for you and complement your vision, and could even share details of previous weddings they’ve worked on. Our in-house personal wedding managers can help with inspiration. They have a wealth of experience helping couples with varying tastes and budgets at their venues.
