The language of love – which country has the most romantic culture?

Romance may be officially described as ‘a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love’ but the act of being romantic means different things to different people. Regardless of what romance means to you, it’s a feeling that most of us chase when we’re in relationships, and it’s certainly something that shouldn’t end once you’ve tied the knot.

Romance keeps relationships fresh and exciting and while it is difficult to define, it’s the secret to ensuring even the longest relationships go the distance. We may think of being romantic as something that is achieved individually but some cultures around the world are better at keeping things romantic than others. Here we explore which countries are better versed in the language of love – who knows, they might give you a few ideas!

France

Paris, a.k.a the ‘City of Love’, has topped a number of polls, including this survey where 35% voted it the most romantic destination on the planet.  But France doesn’t just have that loving feeling because it’s home to the most romantic city in the world.

The country has long been renowned for its romance, making it one of the best places to propose. The atmosphere of any French town or city inspires anyone who visits to celebrate their love. Its architecture also contributes to this romantic feeling with the winding streets providing a charming, artistic feel that has the power to get strangers chatting. French cuisine and the country’s legion of romantic restaurants also makes France feel special and dreamy.

Brazil

With its vibrant city streets and bountiful beaches, it’s so easy to fall in love in Brazil. The country exudes the ultimate holiday vibe, and its people are equally as exuberant. According to Pink Pangea, Brazil is the birthplace of the most romantic men too:

“Brazil is home to numerous beaches where you can find the best bikini bodies around. It’s like a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show everyday. It’s also the location where you can find some of the most romantic and sexiest men in the world. Brazilian men take their emotions seriously and they often translate them in sensual samba moves. They are definitely not shy about their sexuality.”

Brazil’s people and culture make it the place to fall in love and a destination to celebrate your love.

Italy

With a number of cities in Italy featuring on the world’s most romantic lists, the Italian culture definitely deserves to be included in our rundown. The word ‘romance’ actually originates from Rome, and you can see why. From its beautiful rural landscapes and urban architecture to its fantastic food, excellent wine and rich heritage, Italy has a lot of love to give. The people of Italy are also known for their seduction, with their attractive language often earning the ‘most sexiest’ title.

Italy is also home to Verona, a destination known for its real life Shakespearean legacy as the setting of the tale of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet may have been a fictional character yet Verona’s Casa di Giulietta (translated as ‘Juliet’s House’) is a popular tourist attraction and a beacon of romance thanks to its love note covered courtyard walls.
