An English Country House Wedding for Eve Jobs
As the daughter of the late tech billionaire Steve Jobs, model and equestrian Eve Jobs could have had her dream wedding anywhere in the world. However, she and her fiancé, Team GB showjumper Harry Charles, chose a Cotswolds church and country house hotel for their July nuptials.
A manor house for a wedding is a timeless backdrop, something our couples will attest to. Here’s a closer look at Eve and Harry’s English country wedding, which was the epitome of the “quiet luxury” approach.
The couple, who met through their shared passion for showjumping, opted for a traditional celebration, with the service held at St Michael and All Angels Church in Great Tew, followed by a reception at Estelle Manor. For a member of one of America’s most famous families, it was a very British affair.
Taking advantage of the summer weather, Eve and Harry chose a predominantly outdoor reception, decorated with red blooms and curtains, to match the crimson colour theme showcased by Eve’s bridesmaids. Their guests partied into the night before retiring to the comforts of their manor house accommodation.
Eve wore what she described as a “breathtakingly beautiful” white dress by Givenchy, with an elegant square neckline, subtly clinging fit and intricate floral embroidery. It was designed by Creative Director Sarah Bourton, who famously designed Princess Catherine’s wedding dress. Harry wore a suit by Redmayne 1860, the Savile Row tailor that has dressed generations of dapper grooms.
From a secretive ceremony and manor house elegance, to an evening of unrivalled celebrations, the new Mr & Mrs Charles went all out with their English nuptials, showing that a country house wedding really can’t be beaten.
Feeling inspired? Your own luxury English country house wedding
You don’t have to be a famous model or Olympian to enjoy the quiet luxury of a country house wedding. We have six beautiful venues to choose from, including manor house estates in a similar part of the country to the Jobs-Charles wedding (Clearwell Castle and Bourton Hall).
If, like Eve and Harry, you want a church service, St Audries Park is close to the beautiful church of St Etheldreda. Bourton Hall has its own former Catholic Chapel if you prefer a secular ceremony in a traditional setting.
Afterwards, Eve and Harry’s celebrations were held at the hotel, with a grand marquee in the grounds giving the summer wedding an indoor-outdoor feel. Our stately homes all have beautifully kept grounds for your wedding reception and party, from the Tudor courtyard of Leez Priory to the forest-edge gardens at Clearwell Castle.
With many of the couple’s guests coming over from America, it simply made sense for them to stay together at the venue. At Country House Weddings, we can accommodate many of your guests in luxurious rooms in the main houses and self-catering cottages on the estates. As well as making life easier, having your loved ones stay in the same place gives the celebrations a wonderfully welcoming and intimate feel.
Surprisingly, the showjumping power couple didn’t involve any horses in the celebrations, but we were delighted to see that British country wedding staple, the classic Landrover, had an important role on the day. If a classic car fits with your wedding theme or aesthetic, then consider St Audries Park or Bourton Hall for your nuptials, both of which have a stylish car available as an upgrade to elevate your wedding photography and be a talking point for guests. Alternatively, your Personal Wedding Manager can supply a list of trusted suppliers, featuring recommended wedding transport, to help you make your grand entrance and exit.
Like Eve and Harry, you and your guests will enjoy exclusive use of the historic country house and grounds for your special day (or days), along with the undivided attention of our expert staff, making our wedding venues a must for your timeless country house wedding.
