Spice Up Your Wedding With A Multi-Day Event, Mel B Style
Variety is indeed the spice of life for new bride Mel B. The Leeds-born singer had not one but two gorgeous weddings when she married Rory McPhee earlier this summer.
Most of us don’t have the budget (or holiday allowance) for two separate luxury weddings like Mel and Rory – but we’ve come up with an excellent solution…
Spice Girl Melanie Brown and hairstylist Rory McPhee first tied the knot on 5th July 2025 in the crypt at St Paul’s Cathedral, followed by a reception at Shangri-La at The Shard. Mel looked beautiful in a traditional ivory dress by Josephine Scott, while Rory wore a kilt in the McPhee tartan.
Only one month later, Mel and Rory made the front pages again with pictures from their second ceremony in Marrakech. Their “sequel wedding” wedding was described by Mel as “gorgeous, spiritual and very private”, with a three-day party for close family and friends. Mel wore a stunning figure-hugging dress by Justin Alexander, hand-beaded with deep red crystals, and Rory opted for classic black tie with a summer-friendly white tux.
Mel and Rory had a clear vision for their wedding, choosing celebrations, attire and locations that were personal to them – something that should be at the forefront of every couple’s wedding planning.
How to extend your wedding celebrations
We love Mel and Rory’s idea of having two separate celebrations that reflect different aspects of their tastes and personalities. It’s perfectly possible to recreate this lavish celebration yourself, by choosing a multi-day wedding package.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen multi-day weddings increase in popularity. These include exclusive use not only on the day of your wedding but the day before as well; and with day-after parties available, there are endless possibilities.
You can use the extra time by having two very different celebrations, like Mel and Rory’s combination of traditional and exotic events. You don’t have to hold two actual wedding services, although you can choose to have a separate blessing.
Alternatively, we can help you plan a lavish night-before or day-after party, which is a way of extending the celebration with a more streamlined budget, such as a barbecue in the courtyard of your private lodge at St Audries Park or an evening feast at your own inn near Gosfield Hall. It’s these thoughtful extra touches that elevate our Two-Day Luxe Weddings into truly spectacular celebrations.
Alternatively, you can have an intimate wedding for close family and friends, followed on another occasion by a romantic twilight wedding (and party) for your wider circle.
Recreate Mel and Rory’s special day(s)
We can also help you recreate the aesthetic of Mel and Rory’s celebrations in our elegant country house venues.
Day one: the traditional white wedding
If you’d like a religious ceremony, you can arrange a service at St Etheldreda’s near our St Audries Park venue. For a more traditional wedding without the religious element, try the former chapel at Bourton Hall or the church-like ballroom at Clearwell Castle. To lean into the theme, dress the room with white blooms, which Mel loves, along with white weave sashes and scented aisle flowers.
Day two: the “sequel wedding” in Morocco
Mel described the second wedding as “More informal, sexy and beautiful”, filled with friends and laughter. While we can’t promise Moroccan weather, we can certainly recreate the lively atmosphere. Try a glamorous evening wedding with lanterns, live music and a cocktail station. The Party Package at Leez Priory would be perfect for this. Dress code: fabulous.
